Wine Tasting with Cote Bonneville

November 7, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$25

Located in Washington State’s esteemed Yakima Valley, Côte Bonneville is a celebrated estate winery with a profound sense of place. The winery was founded by Hugh and Kathy Shiels to showcase the exceptional quality of their DuBrul Vineyard, which they planted in 1992. The steep, south-facing slopes and diverse soils of this single vineyard yield grapes with unique concentration and structure. Today, their daughter, winemaker Kerry Shiels, continues the family’s mission to craft world-class wines that are classically styled, elegant, and built to age.

The Wines

Côte Bonneville produces a range of varietals from their estate vineyard, all known for their meticulous craftsmanship and ability to express their terroir.

  • Cabernet Sauvignon: Sourced from the rockiest soils of the DuBrul Vineyard, this wine is the epitome of the estate’s power and elegance. It is praised for its bold, structured profile with notes of dark fruit, savory herbs, and a distinctive mineral character.
  • Chardonnay: Following in the footsteps of great white Burgundies, the Côte Bonneville Chardonnay is known for its graceful aging and balance. It combines tropical and citrus fruit with a creamy texture and bright, natural acidity.
  • Riesling: Made from some of the oldest Riesling vines in Washington, this wine is a true benchmark. It offers a beautiful balance of incredible flavor, bright acidity, and a touch of sweetness in a German Spätlese style.

Interesting Facts

  • One-of-a-Kind Terroir: DuBrul Vineyard was planted after the Shiels family dug and studied the soil in over 100 pits to determine the perfect locations for each grape variety. This painstaking process is what allows them to produce six different high-quality varietals from a single site.
  • A Family Legacy: Winemaker Kerry Shiels, who has a master’s degree from UC Davis, grew up on the property and made wine for science projects in middle school, long before she became the head winemaker.
  • Shared Quality: While Côte Bonneville makes its own highly-acclaimed wines, the Shiels family sells the majority of its DuBrul fruit to a select group of top Washington wineries, a testament to the vineyard’s widely recognized quality.

Tasting Lineup

Choose 5 wines. Add a bonus vertical tasting for $25.

2022 Chardonnay
Our style follows in the footsteps of the great White Burgundies.  Tropical and citrus fruits, bright natural acidity, and rich creamy texture combine to create this imminently ageworthy Chardonnay.  After 18 months of sur lees aging, the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered.

2024 Cabernet Franc Rose
Classically styled, our dry Rosé is expressive and aromatic.  The Cabernet Franc vines are designated specifically for this wine and managed accordingly.  Bright acidity, medium body, and lovely fruit are the result of our dedication to Rosé.

2024 Train Station Cabernet Franc
In 2015, we transformed our historic train station into a tasting room, preserving its original architecture and welcoming ambiance. Originally built in 1911, this building was a central gathering point of the town until 1943. In tribute to its rich history, our Train Station second label was born. The label design includes elements of the building, the Stagecoach Annie—one of the first trains to arrive at the station—and the brick tracks embedded in the sidewalk, remnants from its original location.

2015 Carriage House
This classic blend is estate grown and bottled Dubrul Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet franc. The wine’s heady perfume, rich mouthfeel, and bright vibrant fruit are elegant, seductive, uniquely of the terroir.

2017 Syrah
Sultry and rich, the purity of fruit is undeniable in this beautiful expression of DuBrul Syrah. Black cherry, marionberry, and boysenberry are complimented by notes of Earl Grey tea, vanilla cream, white pepper, and lavender. The intense flavors and soft texture are balanced by lively acidity.

2014 Red Wine

2024 Riesling
The oldest block in DuBrul Vineyard, these vines were planted in 1982. They continue to produce beautiful fruit.  A perfect balance of incredible flavor, bright acidity, sweetness, and low alcohol; this wine is our version of a German Spätlese Riesling.

Bonus: Library Vertical Tasting add $25
This is an extremely rare opportunity to tray a vertical of cabernet from the 2005, 2006, and 2007 vintages. Each wine has been rated 95pts or more.
