Where the eastside meets the westside....only a bridge apart! Come discover wine.
Tina grew up on Mercer Island, graduated from Mercer Island High School, and then from WSU in 1982. She met Joe, another Coug, in their senior year. Two years later in 1983, they tied the knot. They explored the wineries of Washington, Oregon, and California during the mid 1980s when there were fewer than fifty wineries in Washington, less in Oregon, and California was well ahead of both. They worked part-time at seven Washington wineries from 1985 - 1993. In 1988, they decided they would open a wine bar. In 2018, they did it. Thirty seven years of exploring wines from all over the world has led to the opening of "barrels...experience wine!" Come on in and pop a cork!
We are happy to have Craig Katz, Certified Sommelier, lead us through our first Virtual Wine Tastings. With over 30 years in the wine industry as an educator, marketer, and sales manager, Craig has a great deal of experience and now, for a first, as a Virtual Wine Tasting Host.
He has represented over 100 domestic and imported wine brands, most recently for Ste Michelle Wine Estates.
He has hosted hundreds of wine dinners and tasting events and has always focused on meeting people where they are in their wine journey.
We are excited for this partnership and also want to let you know that Craig is available to provide wine consulting services.
To book a spot for one of the tastings call Barrels at 206-268-0588 between 3:00PM and 6:00 PM or email at email@example.com
Our artist for the months for December and January is Julie Sanchez. Julie is an Encaustic and Cold Wax artist. She lives on Mercer Island, but her roots are in Alaska, and the influences of Alaska are evident in her current work. Her use of Asemic Writing and mark making in several of these works is a means by which thoughts are immortalized absent of words and language Check out her website (below) to see more or stop by Barrels to get up close and personal with it. She will be here for first Friday Art Programs in December, January, and February. Contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org for an appointment at Barrels and see her other work here: www.eliasshawnstudio.com
