Founded by Scott and Denise Whitman, Whitman Hill Winery represents a deeply personal journey rooted in family heritage, intentional farming, and a passion for Washington State terroir. After nearly a decade of making wine on the west side of the state using eastern Washington grapes, the couple moved directly to the source in 2020, establishing their 75-acre estate in Zillah within the acclaimed Rattlesnake Hills AVA of the Yakima Valley. Winemaker Scott Whitman focuses on site-driven, low-intervention practices that highlight balance, natural acidity, and true varietal character over cellar manipulation. The estate relies heavily on classic Bordeaux varieties—producing single-varietal expressions and structured blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot—alongside crisp Chardonnay and peppery Syrah. Today, Whitman Hill crafts both its flagship estate label, celebrating bold, complex single-block expressions, and its approachable, everyday “Garage” collection, delivering authentic vineyard-to-glass wines from the heart of the valley.
