2022 Elena Walch Pinot Bianco ‘Kristalberg’
Bright and elegant with aromas of fresh green apple, ripe pear, and mountain herbs. The palate is taut and crisp, offering a clean, mineral-driven finish from high-altitude alpine vineyards.
- Philosophy & Terroir: A leading matriarch of Italian viticulture, Elena Walch spearheaded the quality revolution in the steep, alpine slopes of Alto Adige. The focus is strictly on single-vineyard (Cru) expressions that showcase razor-sharp varietal purity and the crisp, crystalline minerality of high-altitude terroir.
- Practices: Devoted strictly to sustainable viticulture under the Grown to Trust initiative, using natural cover crops, gravity-fed cellars, and partial biodynamic farming in their top estate plots to completely eliminate chemical weeding.
2022 Benanti Etna Bianco ‘Contrada Cavaliere’
An intense, volcanic white driven by flinty minerality, white flowers, and vibrant citrus fruit. Beautifully structured with a waxy, textured mouthfeel and a long, distinctly saline finish.
- Philosophy & Terroir: As absolute pioneers of the modern Etna wine renaissance, the Benanti family has spent decades single-handedly rescuing ancient, pre-phyloxera native clones on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. Their philosophy revolves around producing elegant, highly territorial wines from distinct, high-altitude Contrade (crus) that mirror Burgundy in complexity.
- Practices: Practicing organic farming with a focus on hundred-year-old, low-yielding bush-trained vines (Alberello). They exclusively use indigenous yeasts selected from their own vineyards to preserve authentic volcanic typicity.
2025 Chêne Bleu Rosé ‘Le Rosé’ (Cuvée Vaulclose)
A sophisticated, rich gastronomic rosé displaying layers of fresh raspberry, red currant, and subtle grapefruit zest. Deeply complex and round on the palate, balanced by a refined, stony mineral backbone.
- Philosophy & Terroir: Isolated high in the UNESCO biosphere of Mount Ventoux, Chêne Bleu acts as a secluded “bio-dynamic enclave.” Their philosophy treats winemaking as high art and meticulous science, crafting world-class, gastronomic wines that combine the rich sun-ripened fruit of the Southern Rhône with the mineral freshness of high-altitude soils.
- Practices: Certified organic and strictly biodynamic, employing deep respect for biodiversity, hand-harvesting, and minimal intervention to preserve the pristine mountain ecosystem.
2021 Te Mata ‘Alma’ Pinot Noir
Fragrant and complex, showing vibrant wild red cherries, dark plums, and exotic baking spice notes. The palate is seamless and silky, framed by ultra-fine tannins and a bright, persistent Hawkes Bay acidity.
- Philosophy & Terroir: Established in 1896, Te Mata is New Zealand’s oldest commercial winery and a national treasure. Family-owned and fiercely independent, their focus is on crafting classical, age-worthy, estate-grown wines from the protected, sun-drenched microclimates of Hawkes Bay’s historic Havelock Hills.
- Practices: Certified Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) member. They practice precise canopy management, dry-farming where possible, and meticulous parcel-by-parcel hand-harvesting to maximize vine balance and regional expression.
2021 Elvio Cogno Barolo ‘Cascina Nuova’
A powerful yet elegant classic Barolo bursting with dried rose petals, sour cherry, licorice, and leather notes. It shows brilliant structural tension on the palate with firm, age-worthy tannins and a lingering, savory finish.
- Philosophy & Terroir: Located in the coveted commune of Novello, the Cogno family is legendary for crafting Barolo with immense power balanced by ethereal, old-school elegance. Their philosophy centers on honoring ancestral Langhe traditions, ensuring that the fierce character of the Nebbiolo grape is never masked by modern cellar manipulation.
- Practices: Certified organic in the vineyards. They rely on classic, minimal-intervention winemaking—utilizing long, traditional skin macerations and aging exclusively in large, neutral Slavonian oak casks (botti) to let the unique terroir of the vineyard shine through cleanly
